Order a Tank Sealer Kit
Gold Standard Tank Sealer covers about 100 square feet per quart at 2 mils, so one KBS kit seals most tanks: an 8 oz can for tanks up to 5 gallons, a pint up to 12 gallons, a quart up to 25 gallons, 2 quarts up to 50 gallons, and a gallon up to 100 gallons.
Tank Sealer Kit by Tank Size:
Use this guide to decide which Tank Sealer Kit to order, or how much KBS Klean, RustBlast and Gold Standard Tank Sealer to buy for a larger tank. Every kit includes all three steps of the KBS 3-Step Tank Sealing System, plus nitrile gloves, a stir stick and instructions.
Tanks Over 50 Gallons:
For tanks over 50 gallons, order the individual products in gallon and quart cans. A 50 to 100 gallon tank can also be sealed with the KBS Tank Sealer System in the 50-100 Gal size, which packs the same three gallons in one kit. Order these amounts:
Larger than 200 gallons? Please give us a call at (219) 263-0073 and we will help you order the correct quantity.

Tank Sealer Coverage:
On porous surfaces like rust and corrosion, Gold Standard Tank Sealer covers approximately 100 sq. ft. per quart or 400 sq. ft. per gallon (9.5 m2 per liter) at 2 mils (50um) thickness. Coverage will vary depending on surface profile, application method and film thickness.
Because coverage is measured in square feet, the tank's interior surface area, not how many gallons of fuel it holds, is what sets the amount you need. The Tank Sealer Directions call for pouring in the entire can, coating every surface and draining the excess.
Please keep in mind that these are just guidelines. Coverage will vary based on application, condition of tank, substrate of tank, and other factors.
Tanks With an Old Liner:
Tank Sealer bonds to a bare surface prepped with KBS Klean and RustBlast, so a previous liner or sealer has to come out first with KBS Strip. For tanks up to 12 gallons, the Cycle Tank Sealer PLUS Kit and Large Cycle Tank Sealer PLUS Kit add a quart of KBS Strip to the standard kit. For larger tanks, see removing an old tank liner or call us for a quantity.
Which Tanks This Guide Covers:
This guide is for most tanks, including gas tanks, diesel tanks, fiberglass tanks, tractor gas tanks, oil tanks, utility tanks and non-potable water tanks. Gold Standard Tank Sealer may be used on steel, aluminum, and fiberglass tanks.
Plastic and polyethylene tanks are different: they need Fusion SEP first, because Tank Sealer alone will not bond to plastic. Use the Plastic Tank Sealer Kit instead of the kits above.
