Yes, KBS Top Coater 1K Aerosol Camo can be applied directly to bare metal. However, for ultimate performance and corrosion protection, we strongly recommend applying KBS RustSeal first. RustSeal creates a rock-hard, moisture-proof barrier that permanently stops rust and gives the Top Coater camo finish a superior foundation. On clean, dry bare metal, the coating system of RustSeal plus Top Coater Camo will outlast a Top Coater-only application by years in outdoor and marine environments.

KBS Top Coater 1K Aerosol is fast drying. Under typical conditions (70°F, 50% relative humidity) it is dry to the touch in approximately 30 minutes and can be recoated within 1 hour. For a complete camo pattern, you can apply each color and move to the next the same day. Allow at least 24 hours before returning equipment to heavy service or exposing it to rain or chemicals. Cooler temperatures or high humidity will extend dry times; avoid application below 50°F.

Apply KBS Top Coater 1K Aerosol when ambient and surface temperatures are between 50°F and 90°F (10°C to 32°C) and relative humidity is below 85%. Avoid spraying in direct sunlight on hot surfaces, in strong wind, or when temperatures may drop below 50°F within 24 hours of application. Applying in cooler morning or evening conditions often produces better results, especially in summer months when surface temperatures can exceed 100°F in direct sun.

Shake the can for at least 2 minutes after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the can 10 to 12 inches from the surface and use the professional fan-pattern spray head to apply in smooth, overlapping passes. For a layered camo look, start with your base color (typically Brown or Green), allow 30 minutes to dry, then apply the next color in an irregular blotch pattern. Use cardboard stencils or leaf shapes to mask edges for a natural organic break between colors. Finish with Flat Black for depth and definition. The KBS Top Coater Camo 4 Pack covers up to 100 square feet with one coat on smooth, primed surfaces. Expect up to 50% less coverage on bare wood, rough, or sandblasted surfaces due to higher absorption. Because you are applying four overlapping colors to create the camo pattern, actual square footage covered per project will vary. For very large equipment (full-size tractors, boats over 20 ft.), consider ordering additional cans to ensure full coverage of all four colors.

Cleanup is simple. After each use, invert the aerosol can and spray for 2 to 3 seconds to purge paint from the nozzle valve. This prevents the tip from clogging for future use. No brushes, rollers, or solvents are required. If a nozzle does clog, soak it in lacquer thinner or swap in a standard aerosol nozzle tip. Dispose of empty cans according to local regulations. For skin contact, wash with soap and water while still wet.
