Should old tank liner be removed before applying KBS Tank Sealer?
Yes. Tank Sealer is formulated to bond directly to a bare surface that has been properly prepped with KBS Klean (cleaner) and RustBlast (acid etch).

For best results, the previous tank liner should always be completely removed using KBS Strip.
What is the best way to remove an old tank sealer?
Use KBS Strip for effective removal of failed or peeling tank liners.

Pour KBS Strip into the tank and slowly rotate the tank to allow contact with all internal surfaces. Multiple applications may be required to fully remove the old coating.

Old sealer may loosen in large chunks or small pieces. A long tweezers-type tool can be helpful for removing debris from inside the tank.

Once stripping is complete, rinse the tank thoroughly with water and proceed with the KBS 3-Step Tank Sealer System .
Note: When stripping a fiberglass tank, keep contact time with the stripping agent to a minimum to prevent weakening or attack of the fiberglass resin.
What should be done after the old tank liner is removed?
After the previous liner has been completely removed, proceed with the KBS 3-Step Tank Sealing System to properly prepare and seal the fuel tank.
