Can Tank Sealer be used without KBS Klean and RustBlast?
Tank Sealer was engineered as a long-term rust prevention and sealing solution, and the surface preparation process was specifically developed to maximize its performance.
While it is possible to apply Tank Sealer without using KBS Klean and RustBlast , doing so significantly increases the risk of poor adhesion and premature coating failure.
KBS Klean removes fuel residue, oils, and contaminants, while RustBlast chemically etches the metal surface to create an anchor pattern. This preparation allows the Tank Sealer to bond aggressively to the tank surface.
As with any coating system, surface preparation accounts for approximately 90% of the final result. For the longest-lasting protection, we strongly recommend completing all three steps of the KBS Tank Sealer System .
