Can KBS Tank Sealer Be Used Inside Rigid Plastic Fuel Tanks?
Yes — KBS Tank Sealer can be applied to the interior of rigid plastic fuel tanks to seal against fuel weeping and leaking. If any holes exist in the tank, the holes must be patched first. Because plastic surfaces require additional preparation for proper adhesion, the standard process is modified as follows:
- Clean: Thoroughly clean the tank interior with KBS Klean. Rinse well and allow the tank to dry completely — bone dry.
- Promote Adhesion: Pour an appropriate amount of Fusion SEP into the dry tank. Slowly rotate and roll the tank until all interior surfaces are evenly coated, working the material for up to 10 minutes. Drain all excess. Fusion SEP applies in a very thin film and is engineered specifically to promote adhesion on plastic. Allow to cure overnight or 8 hours.
- Seal: Proceed with Step 3 — Tank Sealer — as outlined in the official Tank Sealer Directions.
Important: Take care to avoid allowing Tank Sealer to puddle inside the tank. Work the material carefully to maintain an even coating on all surfaces draining out all of the excess Tank Sealer.
