Why does surface rust appear after rinsing with RustBlast?
It is common for metal surfaces to flash rust after being rinsed with water because of moisture in the air. RustBlast leaves behind a dusting of zinc phosphate, which is white in color and helps Tank Sealer adhere better.
After the RustBlast step, the white zinc phosphate mixes with any brown surface rust, making the rust appear more pronounced than it actually is.
If the white dusting is present and the tank is completely dry, you can proceed safely to the Tank Sealer step.
Tip: You can minimize surface rust by drying the tank immediately after rinsing with water following the RustBlast step, but this is not required for proper adhesion.
