Yes, the KBS 3-Step Tank Sealer System is absolutely ideal for new fuel tanks. If a new steel tank is left uncoated, it will eventually rust, which can lead to clogged fuel filters and fuel system contamination.
A common misconception is that new tanks do not require surface preparation. In reality, new steel tanks are very smooth and slick, making them a poor surface for direct sealer adhesion.
For this reason, we always recommend using KBS Klean and RustBlast to properly clean and etch the interior of the tank. This process allows the Tank Sealer to mechanically bond to the metal surface and adhere permanently.
